FiDi Date Night

🍸 Cocktails → 🍽️ Bites → 🍺 Pints

The redcoats invaded Manhattan, turning it into an imperial stronghold and forcing a battered Continental Army into retreat. Years later, George Washington returned in triumph, riding back into Manhattan as the British evacuated. If Washington can save victory from the jaws of defeat, you can plan a great night in FiDi. Start with cocktails on Water St, grab bites on Stone St, and close it out at the pub next door. Everything is within a two-minute walk.

Stop 1 — Cocktails
Dead Rabbit exterior Dead Rabbit interior Dead Rabbit cocktails

Dead Rabbit

30 Water St, New York, NY 10004 · website · ~$50-70 (2 drinks each)

Top 5 Guinness pint in the city and some of the best cocktails in FiDi. Happy hour 4-6pm Mon-Fri keeps the first round reasonable. The downstairs taproom is casual and the upstairs parlor is where the cocktails get serious. Start here to set the tone — it's the best opener south of Canal St.

Stop 2 — Bites
Stone Street Tavern exterior Stone Street Tavern interior Stone Street Tavern food

Stone Street Tavern

52 Stone St, New York, NY 10004 · website · ~$70-90 (apps + drinks)

The mature spot on Stone St for post-cocktail bites. Happy hour 4-7pm Mon-Fri. Outdoor seating on the cobblestones when the weather's right — the whole street shuts down to cars and it feels like a different city. Share some apps and another round before deciding if you're staying out.

↓ 1 minute walk
Stop 3 — Pints
Ulysses exterior Ulysses interior Ulysses bar

Ulysses

58 Stone St, New York, NY 10004 · website · ~$40-60 (2-3 pints each)

Large pub literally 50 feet down Stone St from the tavern. Happy hour daily 4-8pm keeps the pints cheap. Monday lobster special if you're feeling it. The shift from cocktail bar to tavern bites to a proper pub rounds out the night perfectly — you've gone from impressive to relaxed in three easy stops.

The Route

The Strategy

Start at Dead Rabbit around 5:30pm to catch happy hour on Water St. The taproom downstairs is the move for a first drink — casual enough that nobody feels overdressed. After a round, walk up to Stone Street Tavern for apps and another drink on the cobblestones. The outdoor seating on Stone St is unbeatable in decent weather. If the night's going well, suggest one more at Ulysses next door. It's literally 50 feet away so there's no commitment — just "one more." The Stone St crawl is the tightest walking route on the site. Total damage: $160-220 for a three-stop night.

Field Notes

Dead Rabbit has two floors — where do I go?
Taproom downstairs for the first drink. It's casual, loud enough to cut nerves, and the Guinness alone is worth the trip. If the night's going well and you want to escalate, the parlor bar upstairs is for cocktails and has a completely different feel — quieter, more intimate. You can move floors mid-visit without it being weird.
Stone Street is outdoors when the weather's good — what if it's cold or raining?
Stone Street Tavern has indoor seating. The outdoor cobblestone setup is the headline, but the inside works fine. If the weather's bad, don't skip the stop — just go inside. Ulysses is also fully indoor and a reasonable call in any weather.
When do I move from Stone Street Tavern to Ulysses?
When the apps are done and you're finishing your drinks. Ulysses is 50 feet away, so there's no friction — it's not a "let's go somewhere else" suggestion, it's a "one more next door." That framing keeps the night open-ended without putting pressure on either of you.
FiDi is dead on weekends — is this a weekday-only plan?
Mostly yes. Dead Rabbit draws tourists on weekends but the Stone St corridor gets quiet Saturday nights. This route is designed for a Thursday or Friday post-work date when the neighborhood is running full speed. Weekend works in a pinch, but the energy is different.
